Description
Seymour Duncan Dark Sun – Mark Holcomb Signature Delay / Reverb
Part of the three-guitar attack force that defines Periphery, Mark Holcomb is arguably best known for bombastic riffs and fluid leads, but he’s also no stranger to the atmospheric side of the guitar. The lush, clean passages, accented by crystalline reverb and delay tones that break up Periphery’s concentrated aggression, are part of the formula that makes the band so special. This means the bar was set high when we created a pedal that met Mark’s expectations. The Dark Sun was developed based on Mark’s favorite sounds of the Andromeda Dynamic Delay and the Silver Lake Dynamic Reverb. Dark Sun combines a warm and clean digital delay algorithm with a lush reverberation and the ability to route the two in almost any configuration desired. You can also shape the effect’s EQ, add saturation or choral modulation, or use the Dynamic Expression feature to control the effect’s mix with your velocity. Mark wanted the ability to change the order of effects on the fly and map them to either the left or right channel. That’s why Seymour Duncan designed the routing control. A 4-position switch that can produce dramatically different sounds depending on the setting. When you start delaying, new reverb effects are created with each repeat. When you put the reverb first, you create a less natural and more dramatic repetition of the reverb track. By setting up delay and reverb for the left and right channels, you can use both of the Dark Sun’s effects in stereo, or as two separate pedals in one.
